Though Greenland does not have trees its beauty is nonetheless stunning, as shown in this image. Flowers and grass are common in many coastal regions of the southern part of Greenland. This image was obtained by a long hike along and unpaved road, and then a trail, from the nearest town, and past a World War II military remnant. Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat), a newly autonomous nation within the Kingdom of Denmark, is the world’s largest island. More than 80% of its land surface is covered with ice.
