Flowers and grass are common in many coastal regions of the southern part of Greenland.  This image was obtained by a long hike along and unpaved road, and then a trail, from the nearest town, and past a World War II military remnant.   Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat), a newly autonomous nation within the Kingdom of Denmark, is the world's largest island.  More than 80% of its land surface is covered with ice.

Some of them are hundreds or more feet deep.  This is the most beautiful one I observed of many that I saw.   Its shape almost looks like a teardrop from this angle, among the wide expanse of snow and ice surrounding it.
